Who are Language Magnet?

Language Magnet is a UK based company founded in 2016 by Diana Somers, who has over 30 years experience of teaching modern foreign languages. The mission of the company has always been to provide the best possible foreign language learning course and experience for non-specialist language teachers, empowering all foundational educators to deliver high-quality MFL with confidence.

After becoming a finalist in the National Educational Resources Awards in 2017, the Language Magnet French and Spanish courses went on to win the National Teach Primary Awards in 2019 and 2020. 

The company has been working directly with schools in the UK for the past seven years, supporting and developing their MFL curriculum, providing bespoke CPD training, and listening and responding to the requests of teachers. This dynamic relationship with schools has meant that the French and Spanish courses were designed and developed with the teachers' and learners' needs at the heart of the programme.

The Language Magnet Primary MFL Platform was launched in January 2023 and in November of the same year it was nominated as a finalist in the Teach Primary National Awards.The new online platform marks a new and exciting development for Language Magnet, providing a world class subscription service for schools and offering additional features that fully support both the specialist and non-specialist teachers of MFL, whilst maintaining the valuable relationships that it has always had with primary schools. 

The Language Magnet team is constantly striving to achieve the highest quality language experience for both teachers and pupils. The world class graphics are created in-house by our Graphics Artist who has worked on CBBC programmes such as Baby Club, Toddler Club, Moon Baby and Dog Loves Books. This level of graphics expertise along with the carefully crafted language course structure makes the Language Magnet French and Spanish Courses original and outstanding in their field. Our team is passionate about primary languages education and our newest team member is working on developing new and innovative interactive games for the language classroom and these new features will be revealed soon.
